Every day brings a chance for you to draw in a breath, kick off your shoes, and dance.

(An unnecessary reminder…) What a great place to enjoy fun, educational, exciting, adventurist, entertaining, and did I say FUN things to do every month.  You know, when someone asks me about Ennead and I start to explain what we are and what we do, I cannot help but become enthusiastic. This month of August we had Rummikub hosted by Vickie Carwell on August 5th, Ennead’s annual business meeting on August 11th at Halle Plantation, Book Club at Dottie Crihfield’s home on August 13th, Arts and Theater Group saw ‘Mamma Mia’ August 16th, and our monthly Dinner Group hosted by Steve Grushkin met at Bangkok Alley on August 28th.   You have to admit, that is a pretty awesome offering and can provide anyone a happy schedule.  My hat is off to the individuals of Ennead that made this possible and especially to the 2018-19 Board who have worked hard to keep Ennead successfully doing all the things it does.  A special thanks goes to the outgoing Ennead board members: Ennead Chair – Connie Spencer, and membership chair – David Brockman, for all their great service and work that is done behind the scenes.  Our new board has three experienced returning members and newly elected members that are looking forward to hearing from each and every member of Ennead on ideas that can grow our membership and grow our Carnival Memphis experience.  These new board members are:

Chairman – Charles Humphreys
Vice Chairman – Barbara Baker
Finance Chair/Treasurer – Dottie Crihfield
Secretary – Paola High
Fundraiser Chair – Sandra Shinault
Entertainment Chair – Karen Mora
Communications Chair – Peggy Edwards
Rules Co-Chairs – Richard Raichelson and Ivan Rich
Director of Venues, Bands, and Happy Hour – Jim Sharpe
Director of Small Groups – John Goodyear

The committees that will be supporting the board are:

Bar – Steve Grushkin
Registration – Marty Alberg
Decorations – Paola High
Catering – Don Harants
Clean up – Steve Crocker
Krewes for Kids – Sandra Shinault
Photography – Greg Maski and Julie Eves
Sunshine – Jere Girard
Facebook – Barbara Baker
Punchbowl – Dottie Crihfield
Webmaster/Newsletter/ Email blaster – LaMora Simpson
Membership Committee Chairperson – Jean Oliver assisted by Richard Raichelson.

With that being said, I think we have a committed leadership that wants Ennead to succeed and be the best Krewe in Carnival Memphis.  As a side note, I would like to ask everyone for their input and help to grow our membership and to commit to help Jean Oliver with that most important endeavor.

Finally, our hearts and prayers go out to Anne Manning for a speedy recovery,  to Dottie Crihfield as she mourns the loss of her son Carter who many of us knew and loved, and to Judith Johnstone who is preparing for her battle with cancer.

Thank you all for the opportunity to serve as Ennead Chair for the coming year.  Let’s make it a wonderful, memorable one!
