What a wonderful weekend Ennead enjoyed in the middle of November! Vickie Carwell, Membership Chairman, orchestrated our Saturday night Recruitment and Homecoming Party at Halle Plantation where more than 50 members and 25 former and prospective Enneadeans enjoyed lively conversation and danced to the music of Eddie Harrison and Debbie Jamison. Many thanks to Kathy Bacherig for securing the perfect venue, to Don Davis for managing the bar and coordinating the food, and to the many members who contributed to this successful event, especially: Sandra Cooper, and Vicki Carwell – decorating, setup, food and cleanup; Paola High – food; Sandra Shinault and Jean Oliver – cleanup. A special thank you to LaMora Simpson for creating the slide show of Ennead photos that we all appreciated throughout the evening.
The Thanksgiving potluck the next day was the perfect gathering of our Ennead family. Organized by Sandra Cooper and hosted by Vickie Carwell, this annual event reminds us how fortunate we are to have the benefit of a Carnival Krewe for singles, especially during the holiday season.
On the subject of the holidays…don’t forget to respond to your PunchBowl invitation for the Christmas Gala on December 16th at the Racquet Club! This is a plated dinner, so we need an exact count of attendees and dinner choices by December 4.
Camilla Wilson has agreed to serve on Ennead’s Board of Directors, replacing Peggy Fitzgerald who has already relocated to Denver. Camilla brings much knowledge and expertise to the Board, and we look forward to her contributions.
Ennead’s regular monthly events in November kept us busy, beginning with Happy Hour at Wang’s East and closing out the month with the Dinner Group at Babalu. Poker players gathered at Vickie Carwell’s (Vickie has been really busy this month!); Barbara Beem hosted Rummikub; Book Club faithfuls gathered at Peggy Edwards’ home for discussion of A Man Called Ove; and Sally Gentry brought the ladies together at Caio Bella. We thank Paola High for hosting the November wine party where food was plentiful and an outside fire provided a toasty gathering place.
2017 is drawing to a close, and soon we will be celebrating the Coronation of our new King and Queen and Royal Court and the beginning of Carnival Season. We look forward to another wonderful year of “Partying with a Purpose” with our Ennead family. I encourage everyone to actively participate in Carnival as well as in the many opportunities for fellowship that Ennead offers.
